Anti-Oppressive Learning Collective: Reading Between the Lines book club Go to Chapter

Golden Key executive members spearheaded the development of the Anti-Oppressive Learning Collective Book Club  to create a space for students & community members to openly learn about, and discuss, critical social justice topics concerning race, culture, and inclusivity.

The book club is open to all, GK and non-GK members from across the world. The book club had its first meeting in February 2021 and is currently ongoing. Members meet bi-weekly to discuss the book currently be read. The goal is to read/discuss a book every few months throughout the year.

The first book read by the book club was  So You Want to Talk About Race by Ijeoma Oluo.

Our mission is to create an inclusive learning environment by collaborating with each other in our city to critically explore ideologies concerning culture, race, and inclusivity. Multi-media narratives and resources will be used to explore lived experiences and  ideological themes to broaden our knowledge and foster meaningful conversation.

We are committed to helping the next generation reach their very best potential through critical dialogue and knowledge sharing. Our vision is to inspire growth and critical reflection of assumptions, values, and privilege in order to foster equality and allyship within work, school, relationships, and day-to-day life.
