UW-Milwaukee's Better World Books Drive
Through the efforts of UW-Milwaukee’s GK chapter Vice-President, Vycheslav “Slava” Strogolov, and Better World Books, 559 used textbooks will be reused to help rebuild libraries for students in Haiti. Slava networked with many campus colleges and a local off-campus bookstore to collect 1,109 gently-used textbooks in a little over four weeks. In addition to aiding relief efforts in Haiti, Better World Books estimates 19 trees and more than 10,000 gallons of water will be spared due to the hard work put forth by Slava. Pictured above is Slava with 25 of the 75 boxes of textbooks shipped to Better World Books this past spring.
