Golden Key Virtual Career and Graduate School Fair
On April 16, 2013, Golden Key hosted its second Virtual Career and Graduate School Fair. The fair, which was sponsored by Dream Careers, allowed Golden Key members from the US and Canada the opportunity to interact and network with graduate school representatives and company recruiters. More than 45 graduate schools and companies participated. The fair allowed the participating organizations to reach a diverse network of high achieving students and alumni interested in a broad variety of industries.
The virtual fair was a huge success with 2,151 Golden Key members attending!
Many graduate schools participated, including Arizona State University W.P. Carey School of Business, Boston University School of Medicine, Harvard Graduate School of Education, Hult International Business School, McGill University, Syracuse University L.C. Smith College of Engineering and Computer Science, and more. And several organizations, such as Envision EMI and ServiceSource, also interacted with Golden Key members that are seeking jobs.
The attendees were able to chat live with the organizations about various job opportunities and get their questions answered about graduate programs. One attendee said, “This has been a really amazing experience. I love the fact that I can interact one-on-one with supervisors that are providing me with really beneficial information.” Another participant let us know that their experience “was most excellent! The school staff is approachable and highly informative. Having it virtually is very convenient since it can be done at any time from anywhere sans logistic inconveniences without having to go certain places. Thank you for facilitating all of this!”
When asked about the virtual concept, the attendees raved, stating things like “It’s so convenient and saves both the student and the colleges the cost of travel, etc.” and “I like having the fair on a virtual platform. It takes the pressure off from face-to-face interviews. In addition, having the ability to talk with various organizations. Great diversity!”
Golden Key is planning another virtual fair this fall.
