University of Pretoria Community Engagement Projects

UP June 2010 pictureOn 23 to 25 April, the Golden Key Pretoria Chapter held their annual World Book Day and Global Youth Day Service projects where they took the children from the Danville rooms to a nearby park where everyone participated in different activities ranging from 3-legged racing to a treasure hunt. Afterwards all enjoyed lunch together. The chapter donated books to the Danville Rooms as well as to UNICA School for Autism. The day was filled with fun literacy activities as well as face-painting. The kids at UNICA were also sponsored with toys, some of which were educational. (Books were sponsored by Exclusive Books, Brooklyn Mall).

Fresno State President's Medalist

Congratulations to Melissa Freeman, the 2010 California State University, Fresno President’s Medalist. The President’s Medal is the highest honor bestowed upon an undergraduate student upon graduation. The recipient is recognized during the university’s commencement ceremony. Melissa received bachelor’s degrees in Business Administration, International Business and in Linguistics. At Fresno State, Melissa was an active Golden Key member, including serving as the chapter treasurer in 2008 and 2009. In addition, Melissa was a Fresno State cheerleader and earned first place in the Business, Economics and Public Administration undergraduate division in the 2010 California State University thesis competition.
