Golden Key Study Abroad Scholarship Winner, Manako Yabe

Manako Yabe, a 2009 Golden Key Study Abroad Scholarship winner, recently worked with deaf children providing services at the Caribbean Christian Centre for the Deaf in January. Manako also had the opportunity to visit St. Elizabeth church, the Jamaican Deaf Village and Mandeville Fellowship. She shared Japanese culture and sign language with deaf children and researched the Jamaican deaf educational system, compared with Japanese and American deaf educational systems. She just finished her graduation research project for Japanese, American and Jamaican deaf educational systems. These experiences strongly impacted her to continue studying International Social Work at California State University, Northridge in the fall semester of 2010. We are proud to have Manako as a Golden Key member!
