Outstanding Golden Key Member Receives National Fellowship

Charlynn L. Weissenbach, a  Golden Key member at  San Diego State University, was recently announced as the Mortar Board 2010 recipient of the Catherine Wills Coleman Fellowship, a $2,500 award. Charlynn is the first member of her family to attend college and is proud to be pursuing a postgraduate degree. Having overcome numerous difficulties herself, Charlynn informally mentored numerous students at San Diego State. When asked about her future goals, Charlynn explained, “I have first-hand experience with how frustrating it can be to lack a mentor and a guide as you attempt to overcome obstacles. I plan to use my resources, knowledge and determination to help others view their challenges as chances to grow and achieve goals previously considered out of reach.”
Charlynn graduated in May with a bachelor’s degree in political science and a minor in sociology. She was accepted to the University of California, Berkley, School of Law and will begin work towards her Juris Doctor in the fall.
