I'd never heard of Golden Key until a friend invited me to attend their International Summit while she and I vacationed in Arizona. As soon as the activities started, I knew this was an organization I wanted to be involved with. While at the conference, I attended many seminars that were both informative and motivating. One speech, made by David Pittman from Duke University, particularly resonated with me. David discussed how to make this "your moment" - a turning point in your life that pushes you in the direction that will help you to accomplish your goals and live a fulfilling life. I had already been contemplating leaving my dead-end job and pursuing school full time, and David's speech gave me the confidence to do so. Now I am a full-time student in my senior year at La Salle, and I want to bring my Golden Key experience to other La Sallians through the foundation of a new chapter.
The opportunities presented by Golden Key are endless - from scholarships and networking, to professional development and study abroad programs. Their academic- and service-oriented values would provide a nice complement to La Salle's mission to create both intellectual and spiritual community leaders. At the conference, I had the chance to see the successful leaders that Golden Key has helped to create, and they inspired me. I hope that with a new chapter at La Salle, we can not only give other students the chance to experience this first-hand, but to grow into the inspiring leaders of tomorrow.
